The various local branches of NWS are known as Weather Forecast Offices or WFOs. these institutions are tasked with issuing area-specific forecasts. It also supports aviation operations by Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts (TAFs) for airports in the area under their jurisdiction.

Storm Prediction Center:

Storm Prediction Center or SPC issues thunderstorm and tornado-related reports in coordination with WFOs.

Weather Prediction Center:

Weather Prediction Center provides reports regarding the future precipitation amounts and possibility of excessive rainfall in particular areas.

River Forecast Centers:

The thirteen River Forecast Centers (RFCs) regularly issue daily river forecasts.

Ocean Prediction Center:

The Ocean Prediction Center (OPC) is tasked with issuing ocean related reports for areas that are under national waters of USA. Weather Forecast Offices issue various forecasts such as High Seas Forecast (HSF), NAVTEX forecast, Offshore Waters Forecast (OFF), Coastal Waters Forecast (CWF) etc. The Ocean weather forecasts help in managing the offshore production activities. Fishing regulations are set up by government institutions to ensure good fishing exists in future. National Hurricane Center (NHC) is tasked with monitoring the weather in Atlantic.  Climate Prediction Center issues all the climate-related forecasts of National Weather Service.
